Meridian National EV Charging

One of the most significant ways to combat climate change is by converting our transportation to electric options. Meridian has been helping other businesses recognize both the environmental and cost-saving benefits that electric transport can bring, rolling out public infrastructure to make using and charging electric vehicles easier. This has also been supported by the carbon reduction objectives set by the New Zealand Government, which aim to reduce net greenhouse emissions by 50 per cent by 2030 and to be carbon zero by 2050.

Carbon Zero By 2050

Meridian Energy has partnered with Aotea nationally to roll out and install their public charging stations around New Zealand, including the rollout in the greater Wellington region for both the Wellington and Hutt City councils.

Aotea National Services is the lead contractor and oversees the project management function, involving engagement with the local lines company and the local Aotea business along with overseeing the building, civil and roading contractors to provide an end-to-end service for Meridian.

3.3 Million Watts Of Infrastructure in 2022

In 2021 Aotea installed and commissioned 1.1M watts of charging infrastructure for Meridian nationally and in 2022 Aotea is on target to install approximately 3.3M watts of infrastructure across NZ and the Wellington region.
